Life is GOOD

What is it about vacation that makes everything better? The food tastes better. You sleep better. Exercise is walking along a beach instead of on a treadmill.

Since Sunday, I’ve been hanging with my husband in a place we’ve never been before, with friends we haven’t seen in over a year. Sharing food and drinks and conversation. Quoting movies like crazy. Laughing, big belly aching laughter at and with each other.

Florida Keys REALLY do have an island life, island time kind of culture. And Bluewater Key is a beautiful place to stay in your RV or 5th wheel. They offer manicured parking slots with of a variety of palms and shrubs to screen one site from another. Some slots face the water, and they are individually decorated by the owners. (Think condos for RVs)

Our slot has a gate directly to the pool and a Tiki hut with power! We cooked and ate breakfast outside yesterday – in the RAIN! I love eating outside – it reminds me of camping when I was a child and life was so much simpler! I’m typing this as I relax and enjoy the sounds of the palm fronds moving in the wind.

Speaking of the wind, it’s blowing at about 20-25 mph here, which is unusual. The wind is blowing my hair all over the place, whipping it around. As an added bonus, the cooling breezes are keeping the Florida bugs away.

Oh I’d forgotten the smell of the rain. That earthy, fresh smell that always reminds me of renewal and gardens and growth. And on the coast like this, it has just a hint of salt thrown in.

Life is good when we slow down and take time to appreciate the life around us. When we breathe and take time to focus on the butterfly drifting about. To get down and see the snail slowly making its way across the pavers. To attempt to get a picture of the iguana, lazing in the sun that quickly darts away before the camera can focus.

Life is good when we are looking forward to the future with anticipation and excitement. For me, I’m swimming this morning with dolphins thanks to The Oma Program at Dolphins Plus (and thanks to a wonderful friend and ovarian cancer advocate who found this program and shared it with me) and checking an item off my bucket list.

Life is Good when we make memories with family and friends.

In the memory of Lisa Bonchek Adams.
“Find a bit of beauty in the world today. Share it.”

Yes, Life is GOOD!

And what a great reminder for those of us back in the thick of things. I’m so glad you are taking this the time to enjoy our beautiful country. Can’t wait for the next installment.
